Fritz Gross was one of the most notable Austrian cabinet-makers of the first half of the 20th century. On some of his works, Gross even left a date and signature, within the inlaid image. This piece of furniture was designed for a special order. Since originally it was dedicated to particular customers, it was made of costly materials, enriched by an excellent technique, and decorated in a fanciful style. Similar cabinets are characteristic for the area of Los Angles and Miami, however, this object was made in Vienna in the 1930s. The most remarkable feature in this buffet is the skilfully executed landscape, made of inlaid veneer of various tree species. The cupboard in the upper part has a shelf for beverages, the lower one is spacious enough to fit all vessels and glasses for serving alcohol. Both cupboards have a lock.
